Faces of Italy
Pareidolia is the phenomenon whereby the influence of our imagination over our perception leads to us seeing meaning where none exists. It's why, for example, we often see faces in everyday objects.
I'm in Italy for a few days and have been seeing faces at every turn. Sure, real ones, of course, but also a few of the pareidolia variety.
Without revealing which is which, in the pictures above I can see Hannibal Lecter, a face by Modigliani, Marge Simpson, a long-haired blond girl with a drinking straw, possibly two pictures of Hitler, a Cavalier, Winnie the Pooh, a puffin, a one-eyed Steif teddy bear, one of the Easter Island stone sculptures, an owl, a front-on portrait of a fish, a moustachioed gaucho and a couple whose names escape me... Any idea which they are and have you got any suggestions?
