Comacchio in colour
Huddled around a maze of bridges and canals, Comacchio - aka Little Venice - is a lagoon town in the province of Ferrara and just a mile or so down the road is a collection of lido - or should that be lidi? Either way, these seaside resorts are packed with tourists from mid spring to mid October - the primary source of the area's wealth these days. I was there last weekend when thankfully the place was very quiet but unfortunately the restaurants were closed. On my last visit I'd fallen in love with the town's delicacy - anchovies followed by grilled eel and polenta. Scrumptious!
All bar one of these pictures were taken in Comacchio and the lido at Porto Garibaldi, using Rita Vita Finzi's Canon 7d whilst she tried out my Olympus OMD EM5. The odd one out is the first - it was taken in Ferrara with the Olympus. (Incidentally, I think I'm going to sell up my Canon DSLR kit - several L lenses plus two bodies, a 5d Mark II and a 5d Mark III - so let me know if you're interested in buying anything.) Last weekend's visit also included a trip to a surprisingly quiet Venice - perhaps it was in post-Carnival recovery mode. I'll post some pictures from there shortly.
