Fascinating uncertainty
It was Carl von Clausewitz who observed that "although our intellect always longs for clarity and certainty, our nature often finds uncertainty fascinating". That's certainly true for me and so, often times, my ministract photographs stray from the more typical hard-lined, sharp-cornered variety to something much more mellow. Somebody (I don't know who - any suggestions would be appreciated) coined the phrase schmocus - a beautifully onomatopoeic term - to describe intentionally blurred pictures like this.
In essence, schmocus shots appeal (or not) to our imagination, encouraging us to fill in the gaps and to see what we want to see.
In truth, these ones are of a series of coloured numbers outside the Willis Building in the City of London but they can be whatever you want them to be.
