Simplicity

Have you ever stared into the distance and then realised you were thinking of nothing but the fact that you were thinking of nothing?Have you ever sat and just thought about breathing?Have you ever reflected on your life and found the things to be grateful for?Have you ever wondered how nothing can sometimes be so much?Have you ever found satisfaction in the small things?Have you ever...

I've often wondered about minimalism but I've never had the courage (I think that's the right word) to try and be a minimalist. I like the concept; I appreciate the feelings behind it; and I can see the logic. But I've never taken the extra step.

Instead, I immerse myself in the writings of people who have chosen to walk the walk rather than just talk it.

But I can cope with the contradiction for now. And if I ever do manage to crack it then I think I'm more likely to practice appropriatism (what a horrible phrase - let's be thankful the word doesn't exist!). I'd like to live a life where I have what's necessary and no more, whether that's minimal or not.

And in the meantime, I'll enjoy the special moments - like this one at Birling Gap.
