Waves

“There are always waves on the water. Sometimes they are big, sometimes they are small, and sometimes they are almost imperceptible. The water’s waves are churned up by the winds, which come and go and vary in direction and intensity, just as do the winds of stress and change in our lives, which stir up the waves in our minds.” (Jon Kabat-Zinn, Wherever You Go, There You Are)

These days, my photography often reveals as much about how I’m feeling as it does about what my eyes are seeing.

Precise pictures of architectural detail, positioned with care within a square frame? Things are good, the sun is probably shining, and I’m on a high.

Schmocussy, intentionally blurred pictures with a very shallow of depth of field? I’ve had better days and I’m using the camera to help me navigate the not so good times.

These pictures were taken during a one-hour stop at Goring-by-sea, using the zoom effect of my lens to convey the spray and power of the tide.
